Even aside from the story behind the song, its an awesome song with some very on-brand fingerpicking guitar work to start the song, before going to the verse chord progression. Its got a nice, smooth singing lead with a punchy rhythm tone and a very nice fingerstyle tone. It's one of the better examples of a modern day rock album, and tracks like Come To Life, Brand New Start and Rise Today were almost custom built for both rock radio and car stereos. Heres why you can trust us. Their 2010 album AB III didnt shy away from visiting darker lyrical territory, particularly on songs such as Slip to the Void. Along with Watch over you, its played in an open G tuning, giving the bright, positive sound before it kicks and progresses into the full band, similar to a lot of other Alter Bridge songs.
