The primary focus of this position is clinical research and writing. All volunteers must be 18 years old to participate (excluding Junior Ambassadors and participants in JuMP; these programs are designed for teens between 15 and 17.
Students will also shadow clinical staff members throughout the program to provide clinical exposure. The ideal applicant is a student aspiring to attend a graduate program in medicine with a strong academic record and an interest in pediatrics. Junior Ambassadorsare teenagers who work with hospital staff and become hospital representatives. In other programs, we schedule our volunteers for at least one shift (three hours) each week, for at least 150 hours.
The program also includes a dedicated lecture series on the basics of clinical research including a background on evidence based medicine, ethics of research and fundamental statistics.
