I only made it work a bit better. Instead of a 2 handed pump action, you prime it with a punching motion (due to the sling) the external spring is just a return spring to help reset the priming handle. Shouldering the blaster seals the pusher into the redirect. I had originally intended to use a side-mounted handle, but this setup with a shoulder strap ends up working way better. It ends up looking like this. Captain Slug designed this, not me. I'll need to switch to more robust hardware. The paracord effectively allows you to fold a Nitefinder or something in half. In earlier versions, Slug got around this by using elastic cords as the priming cable.
Doesnt look like theres nearly enough space for a breech there. The slack in the cable whether primed or not is held tight by a rubber band to prevent whipping. It's still weird even after you've been tinkering with it for a few months like I have, but you get used to it eventually. Excellent progress buddy.
Do you have any numbers on how much mechanical advantage the pulley gives you?

In this position, the cable might get tangled in unpleasant ways or do other nasty things. There's a hole so darts can get pushed in. The shuttle is returned to the forward position by a bungee, so it's a non-reciprocating handle.
Why didn't you believe me? There's a short aluminum bar on the top of the blaster that connects the shuttle to a pusher. It worked, the sheath would take up the load and the elastics would try to contract to take up the slack. They came unhooked once or twice and I had to reverse them to get it from happening again. this used to be a full roll, it almost went up to the edges of the spool. That way the overall length of the blaster remains constant whether it's primed or not. This blaster operates exactly like how people used to use Mavericks and Strongarms back in the day by attaching a sling to the slide and pushing away to prime. Total length is 19 inches. it's only the outer layer that tore.
When you pull the shuttle back, it looks like this.

I really thought I'd have to reprint in blue but it looks pretty good so I guess I don't have to :D. The end of the plunger is a rod clevis holding the eyelet of a 1/16" braided steel lanyard.
You currently have javascript disabled. Let's go back to the Maverick scenario for a minute. Also, do you think it could be easily incorporated into other designs?
Storage box wheel broke off so I printed a full solid one :). There isn't, it pokes out the back when you prime. Looks sick, cant wait to see it all the way done. The lanyard loops around a pulley and back through the eyelet of the priming shuttle. The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. But it's all a matter of trying to find one that's still ergonomically reasonable to use. It's averaging around high 250s mid 260s. That's pretty awesome, love the bullpup style appearance. That's just so retarded that I'm going to have to add it to my to-do list.
I like this idea because it's a cool way to do it that I never would have thought of myself, and it seems to work really well. Connecting arduino with actual speaker, which method best? Relative to your body, the pusher and shuttle don't move.
Full-length K26 blaster with a 12-inch plunger tube, 6-1/4" draw, and a hopper.
I think I'm getting close. Edited by CaptainSlug, 08 August 2016 - 06:36 PM.
The load factors DOWN, but the reel-out distance factors UP. Here's a video of it in action if you want to see what it looks like. Press J to jump to the feed. Template set and partslist have been added to the first post. This blaster is undergoing many changes. So here's one from tonight. It robbed the plunger of momentum because the cable had to be as taught as possible at rest for it to prime without being squishy. Tons of iteration and work. Staying at Myeongdong, where to eat late at night? In the end I now have a full draw K26 blaster that I can completely utilize with only one hand. The cable functions like a pull rod, but the pulley lets it turn a corner and still move smoothly. That performance picture is a high shot on a K25 with a 15.748" long .510" ID aluminum barrel from Kuryaka on mixed darts. Thanks to: j_cobbers, PANIC, and Ryan#########. You could either knock the cable into a catch, or hold it elastically like I am here and use a catch plate on the plunger. Ignore how the elastic band is kinda funky on the front of mine. My camera's color balance is kinda screwed up, it's less washed-out in real life. Havent really kept up to nerf stuff in a while, how do u chamber a dart in a mag so far back? A 2 pulley gun tackle for a 6-1/4" stroke piston at a 28 pound spring load would require that you pull 12-1/2 inches of cable at a maximum of 14 pounds. Shouldering the blaster shuts the breech. The barrel still looks killer even though the blaster doesn't match the color, I know! You're free to try to use it without a sling but there's not a good way to hold the shuttle, the piece attached to the sling and paracord. The slide on the Maverick is the shuttle on the Piranha here. You would need two pulleys in order to get one, and the downside to adding more pulleys is that for every factor increase in advantage you inversely increase the travel distance required to hit your stroke length total.
The only issue I had was the hooks on this particular shoulder strap are too small and were bending over time. A few of the currently available "bow" blasters that Nerf sells seem to be using a similar system. Returning the stock to the well of my shoulder allows the shuttle to slide forwards to its resting position. Eventually, he came up with the paracord idea and along with that came a really really cool new thing a springloaded snapping jaw that takes up the slack. Unfortunately, it did a couple of weird things he didn't like. These things when just seeing a static image of one leave me so completely confused as to what reciprocates and in which direction. Here's a video showing it in action, and feel free to read the explanation below. Bloody hell that looks gorgeous!
Instead of a solid pull-rod, you use a cable and a pulley. This setup could be used in an identical way where you are pulling on the cable itself taught between bow arms.
I'm in beta right now, I have three testers who will be working with the original Slug files to see if my changes actually make a difference. Should we expect plans soon?
Great job. This performed much better than I was expecting it to at Apoc and I ended up using in a third of the rounds throughout the day.
The tee is there in the event that I want to single this blaster and breech-load the barrel using a hole door.
The redirect folds the blaster again, it's now folded into thirds.
On the Piranha, returning the slide means you add a lot of slack to the cable because the other end tied to the plunger isn't going anywhere. You could disconnect the cord from the shuttle and remove the pulley to use it like a backwards Nitefinder, it would still work perfectly fine. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. With the strap looped around the opposite side of my neck then back forward under my right armpit I can prime the blaster by just pushing forwards on the grip by 6-1/4 inches. Edited by CaptainSlug, 08 August 2016 - 06:34 PM. The only purpose of the cable in this design is to redirect the "primed length" of the plunger rod back towards the user. The pusher sticks out the back and looks ridiculous. Since it primes in the same direction, the plunger on the piranha ends up being backwards because of the pulley and the output has to go through a redirect to actually shoot things in the right direction.
It's got performance to match its looks, too. This doesn't sap anywhere near as much power as the elastic cable and it has a much, much smoother prime. When you prime a Nitefinder, the pull rod sticks out the back. And the barrel somewhere in the middle. Will be updated with a full template set and partlist this weekend.
You can now fire a dart and repeat the process. Changes range from smoother pulley to easier assembly to better seal (increased performance), as well as minor aesthetic changes. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts, a springloaded snapping jaw that takes up the slack. Things get a little weird though. This thing hinges open when you prime and it snaps shut when you fire. There's no mechanical advantage with a single pulley. I ran out of shock cord and it's too short to set up the right way.
