Worship and praise are voluntary expressions of our love for the Lord. If you wish to contact me privately you may do so by sending me an email at [emailprotected]. As far as true worship, which you mentioned, it will always be the result of putting away sins and becoming one in the Lord. The Burnt Offering is a dedication to the Lord and Surrender to Him. They put all their sins away by true confession and repentance. 1. The first is that they played and sang as one. 2. Amen. Solomon was clearly also very aware of humanity and seemed to even have a prophecy of future captivity.
Solomon did it right the first time!! We are not praising the Lord as we should. Solomon was FILLED with awe!!! The song service in our church should be more than just some obligatory precursor to the preaching. This was only possible for 2 reasons. It isnt until then that God shows up, and fills the temple with his glory. I say almost, because God does not arrive on the scene until His people in one accord begin to worship and praise Him. After such an offering the worshippers could actually feast as a meal with the Lord. 50 AND forgive your people, who have sinned against you; forgive all the offenses they have committed against you, AND cause their captors to show them mercy; 51 for they are your people AND your inheritance, whom you brought out of Egypt, out of that iron-smelting furnace. When we sin (and we all do) if we change our heart and repent, please forgive our offenses and have our enemies have mercy on us..againdoes that make anyone else think of the Lords Prayer? Two things caught my attention from this passage. Some day we will see this in a different form.when Jesus comes back for all of HIS peoplethere will be no room for sinners in the most HOLY presence of God (all who know Jesus personally will have our sin covered by HIS blood..whew!!). Nothing pleases the Lord more than the praise and worship of His people. Once the ARK was placed in the Holy of Holies and the poles were so long that they stuck out into other parts of the Templemore sacrifices were made to God. They put away their differences among eachother and became one in the Lord. We are not singing as we should with a heart filled with praise and adoration for our God. Did Solomons prayer make anyone else think about the Lords Prayer in NT??? Did you notice that Solomon was down on his knees with his hands lifted to God as he prayed, praised, worshiped, thanked, blessed, etc.? As I am writing this passage, I am burdened about many things in my life, and in the life of our church. Aaaahhhhhhh!!! And the ABSOLUTE mind blower for me today was: 1King 8:10 & 11 10 When the priests withdrew from the Holy Place, the cloud filled the temple of the Lord. Look at verses 1 Kings 8:46-51 circle in your own bible the words WHEN, IF, and AND. Read here and then return in your bible and highlight those words (if you feel led): 46 WHEN they sin against youFOR THERE IS NO ONE WHO DOES NOT SIN AND you become angry with them AND give them over to their enemies, who take them captive to their own lands, far away or near; 47 AND IF they have a change of heart in the land where they are held captive, AND repent AND plead with you in the land of their captors and say, We have sinned, we have done wrong, we have acted wickedly; 48 AND IF they turn back to you with all their heart AND soul in the land of their enemies who took them captive, AND pray to you toward the land you gave their ancestors, toward the city you have chosen AND the temple I have built for your Name; 49 then from heaven, your dwelling place, hear their prayer AND their plea, AND uphold their cause. All of the preparations had been made; all of the materials had been provided for; all of the instruments of worship, and the ornate furnishings had been created; and everything had been put in its proper place. King Solomon summoned into his presence at Jerusalem the elders of Israel, all the heads of the tribes and the chiefs of the Israelite families, to bring up the ark of the LORDs covenant from Zion, the City of David. Solomons prayer showed knowledge and Wisdom. So TODAY is the perfect day to begin. Thank you for your thoughts on Gods glory I just wanted to mention that we have a clear presentation in Acts 1 & 2 of God filling His temple on earth-His church! Ezekiel 43:1-12 and Psalm 133 are good examples on the process wherewith God will fill His temple. Read a previous post from this passage , Tell Melissa I Said Hi The Saturday Morning Post. Then went to the courtyard to do the other offerings because they were so big they couldnt fit on that altar! WOW!!! This is one of the things that sets us apart from other religions. Learn how your comment data is processed. Do you remember when David first moved the ARK ..without Levite Priests?? It symbolized His provision and our Thankfulness. God loves when His children are dwelling together in unity. Or maybe both, and this is why the church is languishing. David became angry, but over a period of time he found out what the Levitical Law said concerning moving the ARK and did it properly the second time. Thank you and God bless, Amen Pastor. Before the Glory of the Lord can fill the house of the Lord, we as his people must allow the Glory of the Lord to fill our hearts first, its called revival.like the post, Good Old Fashioned Hand Written Code by Eric J. Schwarz. God does not force us to worship Him. It should be a time when we as Gods children stop everything and focus our attention on Him completely, lifting up our hearts and voices to Him in praise. TODAY is the perfect day to begin. So many thoughts were running through my head. Last, the dedication of the temple. I think about WHAT a sight it must have been for EVERY ONE to witness the glory of the Lord filling the temple. So perhaps the masses of believers are harboring willful sins or perhaps they are not united? This is a great reminder of the awe we would be wise to acknowledge of God daily.moment by moment. We are told the original contents of the Ark of the Covenant in Hebrews 9: 3-4: Behind the second curtain was a second section called the Most Holy Place, having the golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, in which was a golden urn holding the manna, and Aarons staff that budded, and the tablets of the covenant. It appears that originally in the ARK there were three items the stone tablets with the 10 commandments God wrote on the stone and gave to Moses, Aarons staff that bloomed, and a jar of manna to remind the Israelites of Gods daily provisions for them. NOW the ARK ONLY contained the two stone tablets with the 10 commandments given to Moses. The oxen pulling the cart with the ARK stumbled, Uzzah thought the ARK was beginning to fall, then touched it to help it not fall. AND I LOVED SOLOMONs prayer. Its really pretty simple isnt it? seeing the Temple so FULL of the glory of God that there was NO room for people??? It is NEVER too late to jump into God's word. God will help you, just ask. At the end of 1Kings 8 we see Solomon offered Fellowship Sacrifice (22,000 cattle and 20,000 sheep and goats). And I am so very aware, and stand in awe, because HE is/has/will forevermore, fill me. That tells me that there was unity and harmony. I am speechless after todays reading. Here in the first five chapters of 2 Chronicles we see Solomon building the temple of God on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem. http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Kings%208;%202%20Chron%205%20&version=NIV. We would worship by giving Him our Best unblemished male. Solomon again acknowledged: what is this Temple compared to YOU. HOW could the Temple contain the magnificence, the power, the awesomeness of God? Would love your thoughts, please comment. Did The Lord make any words stand off the page for you? Finally, this temple, which was first conceived through the Lord in the heart of David, is now almost complete. Israel was at peace, they were ALL grateful and praising God in a very GOOD time. This sacrifice was completely burnt up after the blood was sprinkled on the altar. The animal took the place of our sin.
11 And the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled his temple. Can you IMAGINE. GOT BEHIND? Only at this time the glory of the Lord could be poured upon His church! "FAITH comes by hearing, and hearing by the WORD of God" Romans 10:17, Gods glory FILLED the Temple so the priests could not enter to do their jobs, Reading the Bible Chronologically in 365 days, http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Kings%208;%202%20Chron%205%20&version=NIV, All the people of Israel give thanks during a time of peace and plenty, God's glory FILLED the Temple so the priests could not enter to do their jobs, Sacrifices and Offerings too great to count are made, The Ark of the Covenant is brought into the Temple, The Temple as awesome as it was could not contain God. I have been thinking lately that something is missing in our church. Solomon could only imagine Gods greatness, was filled with awe and expressed it to all listening and to us today. I have been reading several commentaries which present the idea that Aarons staff and the jar of manna were only placed in the Holy of Holies, but either way God saw all three of those as important representing HIS ways, HIS miracles, and HIS provisions.
In the SUBJECT line of your email PLEASE put BLOG as your subject so it does not stay in my spam folder or get trashed by accident. The beauty of what I read touched me deeplythe Temple was completedthe ARK was brought in.the people showed such reverence for God in their songs, their 14 day festival, and their offerings and sacrifices. The Fellowship Offering symbolizes Peace with God, and Community with Him. Solomon followed Gods way in moving the ARK (Numbers 4:15). Todays Reading 2 Chronicles 1 5(Click on the references to listen to the audio Click here to view the passage from Blue Letter Bible), (Second Milers Read Acts 4 6; Psalms 81 85; Proverbs 17), Listen to this mornings Scripture song Psalm 119:105, Read the 0517 Evening and Morning devotion for today, by the late Charles Haddon Spurgeon, Read a previous post from this passage Just Ask Him, It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD; So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God. (2 Chronicles 5:13-14).
Uzzah (2 Samuel 6:1-7) INSTANTLY died. What touched you today? The Grain offering was our finest flour, unleavened (reminder of the Exodus from Egypt) and grain. We read so much about the sacrifices back in Leviticus and Numbers. There were so many offerings and sacrifices made to God that they were too numerous to count on the first move. AND if I can help you, just send me an email and ask and I will be happy to do what I am able. Nothing about true worship is forced. I could not put my finger on it before, but I think God has shown me something here. Click here for todays reading The second thing is that God is well pleased with the praise of His people. Last, was the Grain Offering (we read all this in Leviticus and Numbers.) This beautiful picture through words brings such great peace and awe.
Solomon knew Gods history, and his Precepts. JUST STARTING? EACH time I read this verse I can feel the Holy Spirit touch me anew, as if for the very first time. He knew his Covenant and promises. I am reminded that HIS presence RESIDES IN ME (and in YOU!!) True worship does not bring God to us, true worship is a sign that God has already worked in our hearts, for Jesus said without Him-His presence and power in our lives-we cannot do anything, even worship alright! Praise the Lord for this beautiful day and for the first time in a long time we can gather together at the church.
